- Prerequisite: qualified lower secondary school leaving certificate / intermediate school leaving certificate
- Duration of training: 3.5 years
- Vocational school: Staatliche Berufsschule Neustadt a. d. Aisch (1st and 2nd year of apprenticeship), Staatliche Berufsschule Wasserburg am Inn (3rd apprenticeship year)
- Block lessons; accommodation in a dormitory
- Examinations:
- Part 1 after 1.5 years, theory and practice; the result determines 25 % of the overall examination mark
- Part 2 after 3.5 years, theory and practice; the result determines 75 % of the overall examination mark
